A holistic approach to fitness

“What if instead of trying to force your body into some ideal image you have of it, you work with your body to help it become the best it can be?”

There were a lot of amazing talks at Mindvalley University last year, but the ones that make the most impact on me are always the ones where I don’t expect it.

I loved Ronan already, had seen him in a couple of Mindvalley quests online, and so the prospect of hearing him talk on stage was exciting. He was going to talk about fitness, which I thought would be fine, but did not have too much interest in. So, I would just listen to his talk, just to get to see him in real life.

The problem with fitness

As Ronan talked about his personal journey, I heard him mirror a lot of my assumptions and experiences around fitness. Going to the gym for hours, every day. Working your body to the limit. Measuring every gram of food you take in. Counting each calorie. At the point he had finally reached his fitness goal, he said maintaining his body had become almost like a second full-time job. Yikes.

This idea never made sense to me, and instinctively I knew there was a better way of doing things. I just did not consciously know what, so I basically dismissed fitness and working out as “you have to do it, but I will get to that at some point in life”. Just like a lot of people. Working out is work, so we do not want to do it.

The right way

Fortunately, Ronan also realized this, but he actually started thinking about and researching the better way to do it. He started asking: “What if instead of trying to force my body into some ideal image, I work with my body to help it become the best it can be?”

This ultimately led to Holobody. Instead of fighting and pushing your body, you start this fitness journey by letting go of any image you have of your body. Instead, you go and check in, where is my body at now, how does it feel? You go and investigate, try out things, see what movements feel good to your body, what you would like more of, what less.

Then you start developing routines to naturally incorporate more movement into your days. Some more light exercises even. All the while keeping these weekly body talks going.

And Holobody goes really deep on this, incorporating a lot of mindfulness, creative visualization, and even Vishen’s 6-phase meditation. All to build a good relationship with your body, one where you both get to be your best, working together to achieve optimal health.

Becoming a CHC

Naturally, I had to learn this method. I have now officially become a Certified Holobody Coach from Mindvalley, meaning that not only I can apply this method in my own life, but I can start helping others as well! I am so excited about this, because I know that so many people struggle to find a good place and rhythm for movement and fitness in their life. It is a great addition to WILDFIT, now being able to offer my clients mindfulness in every area of their life.

With this certification, I am equipped with the tools and knowledge to help people achieve optimal physical and mental well-being through nutrition, movement, and mindfulness, and I cannot wait to see what it will bring them!
