I was never planning on becoming a lifestyle coach!
I was never planning on becoming a health coach. I wasn't looking to start my own business.
I have had my programming job for the last 11+ years, and am very happy there. It allows me enough freedom to do all the other things I want to do in my life, while also challenging me enough that it never gets boring. I love my colleagues. So why would I want to do anything else?
Well, I have been on a journey of self-improvement for years now. Improving my mental health, then my physical health. All the while trying to figure out what I want to do in my life besides working and Netflix. As I got further in this journey, my goals became clearer as well. I want to work only as much as is needed, to leave most of my time free to go surfing. I want to work independent of one location, so I can travel to (and surf in!) beautiful locations.
I have been working together with my bosses to make this more and more a reality. In the meantime, I of course kept working to improve my health. However, it is there that a funny thing started to happen.
Through the many books, articles and podcasts that I have consumed over the years, I have gathered a lot of knowledge. And after getting more and more familiar with my own struggles, I started recognizing these in others around me. In places where I had the answers this led to an obvious question: Why not share what I know with those people?
So, the seed was planted. I mused on it for months, maybe even years, until all of a sudden it all fell into place. I had just finished WILDFIT, and had a handle on what I ate for the first time ever. I felt better, both physically and mentally, than I had in years. It was the most impactful intervention I had ever done. And they offered a coaching program.
That's where I find myself today. I am now officially a business owner, coaching my first clients towards food freedom, with many more to follow. Suddenly, I am able to help people in a real way, and that in turn further supports my goals of surfing, travelling and just generally living a great life. Not even fully through my first program, I am already seeing people having benefits, and knowing that I helped get them there is more rewarding than I can say!
The biggest lesson I got from all this is to keep working on yourself. Keep learning, refining, keep getting healthier and more in flow. Once your cup is full, you can start helping and serving others from your overflow. Who knows where it will lead you!
